These stories grew from a personal journey: a search for truth and wisdom woven into African folklore, and a desire to pass those golden threads on to the next generation. Each book explores a theme that shaped Walé’s own path, from identity and resilience to patience and purpose.
The tales draw on the oral traditions Walé grew up with, where stories were told aloud, wisdom travelled from elder to child, and every tale carried a lesson without ever feeling like one. The series brings that tradition to a new generation of readers, on the page and through sound.
Music has been a companion to Walé’s creativity for over twenty years. Every book in the series is released with an original score, composed to hold the emotional tone of its story, so that reading becomes something families hear and feel as well as see.
The meaning in the name
The golden threads symbolise the connections between our experiences and the wisdom we gather along the way. Just as a tree’s roots and branches link it to the wider forest, our stories and values are woven together by unseen threads. Every act of kindness, resilience or learning becomes part of a child’s own tapestry of growth.
Seven stories make up the series, and each one follows a single thread: identity, uncertainty, decisions, patience, integrity, balance and contentment. Read in order they trace one journey. Read alone, each stands as a complete tale with its own lesson.
