Golden Thread Tales: stories that grow with your child.
Golden Thread Tales is home of the Golden Threads of Inspiration series: African folklore stories for children aged 8 and up, told as illustrated books with music, where every title is paired with its own original score.
Which thread will your child follow first?
Golden Thread Tales helps families and classrooms raise thoughtful, resilient readers.
A clear path through big themes
Seven books, seven life lessons: identity, courage, decisions, patience, integrity, balance and contentment, told as adventures rather than lectures.
Built for reading together
Written for children aged 8 and up, layered enough for the grown up reading alongside. The best conversations start on the last page.
Ready for the classroom
Each theme maps to PSHE and literacy discussion, with a curriculum guide for Key Stage 2 on the For Schools page and trade terms for school orders.
Immersive experience
Every book has its own original score, composed for bedtime wind downs and calm classroom time, streaming on all major platforms.
Three strands, one thread
Rooted in African folklore
Each story draws from rich oral traditions, bringing cultural wisdom to life for a new generation of readers.
Every book has its own score
Original music composed alongside each title turns reading into a full sensory experience, at bedtime or in the classroom.
Themes that matter
Identity, resilience, decision making and gratitude, explored through adventure, never lectures.
The Tree That Found Its Roots
A young tree questions its purpose, and what makes it different from the others in the forest. Its encounters with the people who name it set off an inward journey that reveals the power of knowing where you come from.
A story about self discovery and identity, told through the wisdom of the natural world, and the book that introduces every character in the series.

Stories that stay with families
My daughter asked me to read it again the same night. She wanted to talk about what it meant to know where you come from. I didn’t expect a children’s book to spark that conversation.Parent of an 8 year old · verified purchase
I ordered it for our Year 4 classroom library and every child wanted it first. The themes of identity and belonging opened up discussions that lasted the whole week.Primary school teacher · Leeds

Walé Akíngbadé
These stories grew from a personal journey, a search for truth and wisdom woven into African folklore, and a desire to pass those golden threads on to the next generation. Each book explores a theme that shaped my own path: identity, resilience, patience and purpose.
I write them so that children can find themselves in the stories, and so that families can have more conversations that matter.
